Overview

Ancient capitals, Cham sites and southern archaeology

Begin with Cổ Loa and the archaeological layers of Thăng Long, then travel south through imperial Hue, Mỹ Sơn, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City before continuing to the Óc Eo–Ba Thê landscape.

Museums provide context for the sites visited, while waterways, old trading streets and free time keep the journey connected to present-day Vietnam. Flights are used between the main regions, with one overland move into the Mekong near the end.

Route and overnight stops

The journey follows a north-to-south chronology, with flights between regions and one purposeful overland move into the Mekong to introduce Óc Eo and river commerce.
