Begin in Ho Chi Minh City with the former presidential palace, wartime urban sites and Cu Chi, then continue north through Sơn Mỹ, Hue, Highway 9, Khe Sanh, the former demarcation line and Vinh Moc before flying to Hanoi.
Hoi An and Từ Hiếu provide quieter cultural time between the principal war-history days. Museums, memorials and battlefield landscapes are visited at a measured pace, with advance briefing for sites containing graphic material.
Use three regional bases, with one domestic flight from the south to Central Vietnam and a second flight from Hue to Hanoi.
Meet the local team on arrival and transfer privately to the hotel. No sightseeing is scheduled. When arrival times allow, gather for a welcome dinner and a brief orientation to the wartime sites and memorials visited over the coming days.
Begin at the former presidential palace, where the architecture, command spaces and events of April 1975 introduce the Republic of Vietnam and the end of the war. Continue through selected downtown locations associated with wartime Saigon before visiting a preserved urban weapons bunker or command site. After lunch, spend time at the War Remnants Museum, with the option to skip particularly graphic galleries.
Travel to the Ben Duoc sector of Cu Chi and walk through the preserved landscape above the tunnel system. The guide explains concealed kitchens, medical areas, communications and supply routes, together with the pressures faced by rural communities living in a contested zone. Tunnel entry is optional. Return to the city in the afternoon and keep the evening free.
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Da Nang, then continue privately to Hoi An and check in for three nights. Depending on flight time, take a short riverside orientation walk or leave the remainder of the day free.
Travel south to the Son My Memorial Site, internationally associated with the My Lai massacre. Spend time in the museum, memorial grounds and surrounding landscape while the guide covers the operation, civilian losses, questions of command and responsibility, the aftermath for local families and the way the event has been remembered. Return to Hoi An after lunch and leave the evening open.
Spend the morning in Hoi An's historic trading quarter, walking among merchant houses, community halls, religious buildings and the riverfront. The guide introduces the Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese influences that shaped the town long before the 20th-century conflicts. After a local lunch, the afternoon is free for rest or independent exploration.
Leave Hoi An and travel north through Da Nang, stopping at selected viewpoints connected with wartime airfields, ports and logistics. Continue over the Hai Van Pass when road and weather conditions allow, then arrive in Hue during the afternoon with the rest of the day free.
Begin in Hue's Imperial City, first seeing the Nguyen capital as a centre of architecture, ritual and learning. Continue with the history of the 1968 Battle of Hue and its impact on the Citadel and surrounding communities. Later, visit Tu Hieu Pagoda for a quieter view of the city's religious and cultural life.
Depart early and follow Highway 9 west toward the Khe Sanh area. Continue to Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River before visiting Vinh Moc, where villagers created a multi-level underground community during sustained bombardment. Along the road, the guide explains supply routes, highland terrain, the former demilitarized zone and the continuing legacy of unexploded ordnance in Quang Tri. Return to Hue in the evening.
Transfer to Phu Bai Airport for the flight to Hanoi. Flight timing determines whether the morning remains at leisure or allows a short additional stop in Hue; no essential visit is left for this transfer day.
Begin around Ba Dinh Square and the Ho Chi Minh complex, subject to official opening hours and visitor controls. Continue to Hoa Lo Prison, then visit one air-war site such as Huu Tiep Lake or the B-52 Victory Museum. Along the way, the guide covers the political centre of North Vietnam, imprisonment narratives, bombing and neighbourhood life during the war. The evening is free or reserved for a farewell dinner.
Check out according to the international flight schedule and transfer privately to the airport. Luggage storage and free time can be arranged for late departures.

Sơn Mỹ, the War Remnants Museum and some prison or battlefield displays require advance briefing. Guests may bypass selected galleries without disrupting the group.
Tunnel entry is optional. Above-ground alternatives, rest stops and vehicle-supported access are planned for older travellers or limited mobility.
Official closures, flight schedules, weather and road conditions may change the order of visits while preserving the core route and themes.
The 12-day route stands on its own without external speakers. Additional specialist elements are added only when they match the group and can be confirmed responsibly.
