Travel from the mangrove coast of Bến Tre through Trà Vinh and Cần Thơ to Châu Đốc, moving between canals, farms, religious communities and wetlands.
Meet households and community hosts, travel on local waterways and spend time in Khmer and Cham settings. Mangrove protection, aquaculture, river commerce and wetland conservation appear through working landscapes and the people who live within them.
The route follows the eastern coast of the Delta before gradually moving inland toward the upper Mekong, allowing each region to introduce a different relationship between water and everyday life.
Depart Ho Chi Minh City in the morning and travel toward the coastal district of Bình Đại. At Người Giữ Rừng, meet the local team and learn how mangrove protection, natural aquaculture and tourism are combined within one working landscape. Depending on the season and local conservation programme, guests may participate in an appropriate activity such as mangrove planting or site care before enjoying a seafood lunch sourced from the surrounding coastal environment. Continue to Ba Tri during the afternoon. Visit Phú Lễ to learn about traditional rice liquor production before meeting local practitioners for an introduction to hát sắc bùa, presented through its cultural history and contemporary preservation.
Begin the morning in Ben Tre, travelling through canals, gardens and village roads to visit households involved in agriculture, processing and small-scale tourism. After lunch continue toward Tra Vinh and arrive at Nhi Hoa Community Tourism Village, where local hosts explain how participating households organise visits and share the work. Spend the evening in the community.
Spend the morning in the Nhị Hòa community, meeting local households and hosts and joining activities that are running that day. Continue to Ao Bà Om and nearby Khmer cultural sites, where the guide explains the relationship between temples, community space and everyday life in Trà Vinh. After lunch, travel to Cần Thơ and settle into the hotel before a gentle riverfront walk.
Begin early at Cái Răng Floating Market. At the floating market, observe how river commerce now operates alongside expanding road transport and changing agricultural supply chains. Return for breakfast before departing toward Châu Đốc. Continue north through a Delta landscape of rice fields, canals and borderland trade toward Châu Đốc. Arrive in Châu Đốc during the late afternoon for a relaxed orientation of the riverfront.
Begin at Núi Sam among pilgrimage sites, shops and local religious activity, then continue to a nearby Cham community to meet local hosts and learn about religious practice, family life and river-based livelihoods. In the afternoon, explore Trà Sư Cajuput Forest by small boat while the guide explains seasonal flooding, biodiversity, conservation and local livelihoods. Return to Châu Đốc.
Depart Chau Doc after breakfast and travel toward Cao Lanh for lunch and a visit to The Mango Trail. Walk through the orchard and meet the hosts to see how agriculture, hospitality and rural tourism work together on the property. Continue to Ho Chi Minh City during the afternoon and check in or continue to the agreed onward point.
Stay in the best suitable regional hotels, with local accommodation included where it adds to the experience. Standards vary across the Delta and are stated clearly for each destination.
Water levels, agricultural activities, mangrove work and Trà Sư experiences vary throughout the year. Equivalent seasonal activities are confirmed before departure.
